How to make your own GTA 6 cover art, free and step by step

Guide · Updated 21 July 2026 · About 5 min read

You make your own GTA 6 cover art by dropping nine of your own photos into the real Grand Theft Auto VI panel grid in the GTA 6 cover maker, framing each one, and downloading the result at 1666 by 1920 pixels. It takes about two minutes, it is free, and every photo stays on your own device. This guide walks through the whole thing.

What do you need?

A web browser and a handful of images. Nothing installs and there is no account. Photos of you and your friends work well, but so do pictures of pets, cars, holidays or anything with one strong subject. Each image is clipped to the shape of its panel, and none of those shapes is a plain rectangle, so pictures with a clear focal point survive the crop best.

Step 1: Open the GTA 6 cover maker

Open the GTA 6 cover maker. The nine panel grid loads already traced from the real Grand Theft Auto VI box art, so there is nothing to set up. Everything runs in your browser and your photos are never uploaded to a server.

Step 2: Put a photo in each panel

Click any panel to open your photo picker and choose an image, or drag a file straight from your desktop onto the panel. The photo is clipped to the shape of that panel. Repeat until all nine are filled.

Step 3: Move and zoom each photo

Click a panel to select it, drag inside it to move the photo, and scroll, pinch or use the Zoom slider to scale it. Get the main subject centred inside the angled shape, because the corners are cut on a slant rather than square.

Step 4: Set the frame colours and the wordmark

Set the Inner and Outer colours under the grid. Inner paints the gutters between panels and Outer paints the border around them. There is also an Original GTA VI logo checkbox that drops the real wordmark over the grid where it sits on the box art.

The thicknesses are not adjustable. They are fixed to the real cover's own measurements, 14 base pixels of gutter inside a 22 base pixel border on GTA VI, so your collage keeps the proportions of the printed box art. What you can change is colour. The original is mixed at a deep aubergine rather than black, which is why the cover reads violet against pink and orange photographs, and a colour pulled out of your own images works just as well.

Step 5: Download your cover

Choose PNG, JPEG or WebP, then press Download. The cover saves at 1666 by 1920 pixels with no watermark, which is enough for a phone wallpaper, a social post or a small print.

How is the GTA VI grid laid out?

Nine panels, and only the outside edge of the cover is straight. Panel 1 is the odd one: it has six corners rather than four, comes in from the right edge, crosses the middle and steps down so the bottom right panel wedges underneath it. At better than a quarter of the total area it is the largest single tile in any of the five grids on this site, and its top edge climbs 74 pixels across the run.

1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9
The nine panels of the GTA VI cover, drawn from the same coordinates the editor uses. Panel 1 is the six cornered hero tile; panels 5, 6 and 9 make up the top row, which is a shallow V rather than a straight band.

The divider under that top row is not one line. It starts 231 pixels down at the left edge, sinks to 272 a third of the way across, then climbs to 192 at the right. The two verticals inside it splay apart, one leaning left by about 2 degrees and the next right by about 5. That is where the collage gets its energy: it reads as a wall of snapshots rather than a spreadsheet.
