10 creative GTA 6 cover ideas to try with your own photos

Ideas · Updated 21 July 2026 · About 4 min read

The nine panel Grand Theft Auto VI grid suits any set of photos that share a theme, and the ten below are the ones that consistently come out well: a friend group, a couple, a pet, a trip, a team, a car build, a year in review, a meme set, a gig and a milestone. Pick one, open the GTA 6 cover maker, and you have a cover in a couple of minutes.

1. The friend group edition

The classic. One panel per person, plus a couple of group shots and an inside joke. Put the loudest personality in the six cornered middle panel, because that tile is over a quarter of the cover and everybody will look at it first.

2. The couple cover

Mix portraits, dates, trips and small details like a shared coffee order. A warm frame colour pulled out of one of the photos ties the nine together better than a neutral one does.

3. The pet cover

Nine angles of one very good dog or cat, or a full lineup of the household. Close ups of faces read especially well here, because the panels are angled and a tight subject survives a slanted crop where a wide scene does not.

4. The travel recap

Turn a holiday into a cover. Landmarks, food, sunsets and street scenes give you the colour range the grid wants, and the Leonida palette of the original means warm, saturated destinations look particularly at home.

5. The sports team

Team photos, action shots and the crest. Set the Inner and Outer frame colours to your club colours to make it feel like something the club printed.

6. The car build

Wide shots, engine bay, wheels and interior details. The angled tiles suit hard edges and chrome, and a build thread's worth of photos usually already covers nine different scales.

7. The year in review

One standout moment from each month, or the nine best photos you took all year. It makes a good end of year post, and it is the one theme where the nine panel limit does the editing for you.

8. The meme cover

Reaction images, screenshots and running jokes. The GTA layout makes almost anything look like a blockbuster, which is the entire joke.

9. The music or gig edition

Concert photos, festival wristbands, crowd shots and stage lights. Neon heavy images suit the aubergine frame the VI cover is mixed at better than daylight photos do.

10. The countdown or launch cover

Grand Theft Auto VI is scheduled for release on 19 November 2026, and a cover built out of your own most anticipated things is a decent way to mark the wait. It also works as a graduation, wedding or milestone cover with the same structure: photos from the day in the outer panels, the one that matters in the middle.

Whatever theme you choose, keep your strongest photo for the six cornered middle panel and spread your colours across the grid rather than clustering the bright ones on one side.

Can you do this for the older GTA covers too?

Yes, and the themes transfer. Each grid has its own character: GTA V is near rectangular with wide uneven gutters, GTA IV is the strictest grid with a tall centre column, San Andreas tilts every panel against its neighbour, and Vice City is the only one built on real diagonals. A travel recap in the Vice City grid looks nothing like the same photos in the IV grid.

Custom GTA 6 cover FAQ

How many photos do I need for a GTA 6 cover?

Nine, one for each panel of the Grand Theft Auto VI grid. You can leave panels empty while you work, but a finished cover uses all nine.

Which photo should go in the biggest panel?

Your strongest one. The six cornered panel in the middle of the GTA VI grid covers more than a quarter of the cover, so whatever sits there is what people see first.

Do the photos have to be portrait or landscape?

Either. Each photo is clipped to its panel and you can drag and zoom inside the panel, so the original aspect ratio does not decide the crop.

Can I make a cover in the style of an older GTA game?

Yes. There are five grids: GTA VI, GTA V, GTA IV, San Andreas and Vice City, each traced from its own box art, and all of them export at 1666 by 1920 pixels.

Is it free to make a GTA 6 cover?

Yes. It is free with no account, no watermark and no paid tier, and your photos never leave your device.
